Self-care is when you take time for yourself in order to feel healthy and balanced. It’s important to take care of your whole being, so that you can enjoy life and be there for the people and things you love.
Some common examples of self-care are keeping your body hydrated, getting enough sleep, eating well, getting plenty of exercise, taking time for yourself each day (no matter how busy you are), and practicing mindfulness.

Busy moms need to take care of themselves every day. When moms are busy taking care of the needs of others, it is important for them to also be mindful of their own needs. Self-care can make a busy mom healthier, happier, and better prepared for the day’s events – and just being a good mother in general.

How Busy Moms Can Fit in Self Care
One of the toughest challenges most moms face with self-care is finding the time to fit it in. All mamas would agree that a bubble bath, 15 minutes of peace and quiet, or drinking a cup of coffee while it’s still warm would be amazing for their sanity.
However, a spouse, children, a job, the home, errands, and other responsibilities can take precedence over Mama getting some time for herself.
So what can a woman do to get a little free time to look after herself?
Put it in the schedule
To best fit self-care into your busy routine, schedule it in. It is much easier to prioritize your health when you have it scheduled out the way other things are. No matter how packed your schedule seems, there will always be room for a few minutes of self-care.
If you are an organized mom that jots everything down in a planner or makes to-do lists daily, don’t forget to include self care into your daily tasks.

Establish a morning routine
Beginning your morning with some busy mom self care can be a great way to ensure you get it done each day. That way, you have the rest of your day for the thousands of other tasks on your plate.
Carving out just 15 to 30 minutes of your morning can give you the rest and relaxation your mind and body need every single day. This may involve setting your alarm a little earlier to get up before everyone else – but after a few days, you will notice that it’s worth it!

Alternatively, if you aren’t a morning person, you may find it easier to put self care into your evening routine. Once the kids are in bed, choose something simple you can do to help yourself relax and calm down. Maybe a soak in a warm bath or just listening to your favorite music before you drift off to sleep can be just the right self care for you.
Start automating daily tasks
There are all kinds of tools and gadgets that can assist in making day to day tasks easier. These apps or services can free up some of your time, giving you space to prioritize that badly-needed busy mom self care!
For example, begin ordering your groceries through an app or online so you don’t spend a ton of time in the supermarket. Grocery pickup as made life so much easier. If available in your area, grocery delivery saves you even more time when making sure you keep the kitchen stocked.
Be sure to also meal plan to reduce the time you spend trying to figure out what to buy and what to serve each night of a busy week. Prepping foods on the weekends as much as possible can also help you save time during the week.

Begin with small and simple
You can start with some simple self-care tasks. Every day, for 10 minutes, focus on a self care activity. Focus on developing one new positive habit in your day at a time. Once you have mastered that task, move to the next one and then onto the next after that…
By starting small with a few minutes of self-care, it becomes much easier to add more over time. Some people think they need to pay 30 minutes or more, the truth is you only need as many minutes as you can free up in your busy day. Once you start and experience how wonderful it feels, it will be much easier to continue
