What is Self Care Sunday?
Self Care Sunday is a day just for us. A day where we plan to do lots of pampering and activities that benefit our body and wellbeing in one way or another. It’s filled with a day of looking after ourselves, as we look after everyone else the other days of the week.
Sundays are perfect for many moms because Monday is the start of the week for work, homeschooling, errands, etc. Some may find that they can go to church (or sleep in) and then enjoy a big chunk of their time doing what they want.
You don’t have to use the entire day to do self care. You may only be able to spare a few hours. Do what you can, but make yourself a priority!
Why Sunday?
Now, obviously, Self Care isn’t reserved just for Sundays. You can choose any day to pamper yourself. In fact, you should be doing something (no matter how small) to improve your well being every day.
Self Care Sunday just has a nice ring to it and has become a day of rest for many already. For most, it’s easier to find childcare on the weekend. Your spouse may be off work or you have family members that can help.
Saturdays may be filled with family outings, sports, dance recitals, or shopping. So, Self Care Sunday can be a thing. Self Care Monday, Wednesday, etc works just as well. Just tailor this to your own schedule.

Benefits of Self Care
Why should we designate a day to self care? As I said above, it’s essential that you take time out of your busy life for yourself. Your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing will also thank you. They depend on activities that help you relax and unwind after a stressful week.
Here’s such a handful of ways self care can be beneficial, as stated by TheLawOfAttraction.com:

- Increases your resistance to disease
- Promotes better physical health
- Improves your self esteem and confidence

Why a Routine is So Helpful
Self Day Sunday shouldn’t be a one time deal. It should become a weekly routine for best results. Your body consistently needs to be pampered and well taken care of for your to perform at your best.
At first, you will need to schedule your tasks and how you want to spend the day focused all on you. However, eventually the self care will become second nature. You will know and understand the importance of taking a day for yourself.
Over time, you will also alleviate any guilt you may have about taking time for yourself. When you see how beneficial self care really is, you will want to continue taking such great care of yourself!
